The Opportunity:
PMO Assurance Officers assess and report on the delivery of projects, portfolios and programs to ensure that their expected value will be delivered.
The Assurance Officer will support a dynamic team delivering test, evaluation and reporting functions for a key capability delivery program for the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD). In addition to this, the role will also contribute across the broader portfolio function to develop and implement assurance activities including Risk Assurance, Test and Evaluation (T&E) Assurance, Delivery Health, and Benefits Assurance.
As an Assurance Officer you will:
- Support the preparation, coordination and testing of capabilities delivered across multiple projects.
- Undertake testing, assessments and detailed findings related to testing activities.
- Engage with project, program, and technical stakeholders across ASD to gather, analyse, and synthesise complex information.
- Apply established assurance policies, frameworks, processes and procedures. You will undertake research, analysis, coordination and reporting activities to support assurance reviews, portfolio reporting and executive governance requirements.
Key duties and responsibilities
Risk Assurance
1. Assist in maintaining portfolio risk registers and risk reporting products.
2. Monitor risk treatments, mitigation actions and reporting obligations to support effective risk management practices.
3. Analyse project and program risk information and identify emerging trends, issues and escalation requirements.
Financial Assurance
1. Support assurance activities relating to project financial performance, forecasting, affordability and funding utilisation.
2. Assist with the review and analysis of project financial information and contribute to portfolio-level financial insights.
3. Support assurance reviews associated with business cases, investment proposals and financial governance activities.
Test and Evaluation Assurance
1. Assist with the coordination and administration of test and evaluation assurance activities.
2. Support readiness assessments by collecting evidence, monitoring assurance actions and maintaining assurance records.
3. Contribute to reporting that provides confidence in capability readiness and deployment preparedness.
Delivery Health and Benefits Assurance
1. Support project and program health assessments through the collection and analysis of delivery performance information.
2. Assist with monitoring benefits realisation, improvement actions and assurance recommendations.
3. Contribute to portfolio performance reporting and identification of trends affecting delivery outcomes.
Information on ASD’s Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA)
An OSA is an ASD policy requirement for contractors who will be engaged for a period in excess of 12 months and are conducted to determine a person’s suitability to work in ASD. The OSA requires a psychological assessment, which involves a questionnaire and an interview.
